We pride ourselves on the quality of our lovely soaps, which
are handmade in our Cornish workshop.
Here’s how we make our soaps…
Handmade - from beginning to end. All our soaps are made by hand in small batches. Once the ingredients have been carefully blended, the soap reaches “trace”, where it starts to thicken & the chemical processes begin. The soap is poured into moulds, & left wrapped up snug and warm for a day or so.
The Alchemy begins. Making soap requires carefully calculated recipes, lots of stirring and a certain amount of alchemy. We use a traditional method known as cold-process. This process requires patience, care and attention to detail. It’s a finely-honed art which we’ve been practising for years.
The finest ingredients.
We use natural ingredients that your skin will love, including moisturising oils & butters, botanicals, clays, herb infusions, natural exfoliates and essential oils. All our soaps start with olive oil & coconut oil, to make a soap a lovely creamy lather. We have never used palm oil- we love the orangutans too much..
Curing & Cutting & Wrapping. After a day, the soap has started to harden. It’s cut (by hand) then cured for 4-6 weeks before being hand-wrapped. The small variation in the shape of our soap bars is testament to the handmade nature of their production. Our soap-making is a slow process which can’t be rushed; like all good things, it’s worth the wait!
